The … Read more This stunning pair of large-scale vintage sculptures perfectly captures the aesthetic of classic 1970s Hollywood Regency and Mid-Century Chinoiserie. The set comprises two intricately detailed figures: an elegant lady in traditional dress, holding a fan and lantern, and a bearded sage (scholar), flanked by artful animal and nature motifs, such as a crane.

The figures were cast in a European manufactory from heavy, solid stone resin (Ivorine). This material mimics the look and feel of antique ivory but is completely free from trade restrictions. After casting, the pieces were hand-painted in subtle shades of yellow, green, and red and finished with a deep antique patina that beautifully accentuates the sculptural folds of the garments and the delicate facial features.

The backs of the bases feature an Asian-style stylized monogram, "AR." The undersides of the hexagonal bases reveal the characteristic texture of solid cast metal.

Standing at an impressive 50 cm tall and weighing over 2.7 kg each, these figures possess a striking presence. They are ideal as bold statement pieces for eclectic interiors, high-end sideboards, or when combined with mid-century modern design.
