An Extremely Rare Mid 18th Century English Sycamore Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table, Of Excellent Large Scale, Having Superbly Figured Three Plank Top with Cleated Ends, Retaining Exceptionally Rich Untouched Colour And Patina Throughout, Raised On Bold Square Legs And Stretchers.
This wonderful farmhouse dining table boasts great size, comfortably seating 10 people, possibly even 12 on occasions and is the perfect shape to use in a whole variety of dining rooms and kitchens with all sorts of different styles and designs of chairs.
It is extremely rare to find English 18th century variations of the traditional farmhouse table still on the market and available for sale these days, instead by far the majority which are available for sale tend to be 19th century and French. It is even rarer to find them in such excellent condition retaining such a beautiful, rich, warm colour and patina. The lovely sycamore top, has certainly aged gracefully and the whole table is just extremely untouched, exactly how one would hope to find a table of this age, with plenty of evidence of use throughout the many years of its life.
The square leg base is very sturdy and strong, whilst remaining very attractive, resulting in an incredibly sound, solid table. Another great feature is the way that the end stretchers and legs are set such a long way in from the end of the table and the only other stretcher is central, ensuring that there are no support stretchers getting in a persons way whilst they try to sit at the table.
An absolutely charming table of great size, which can comfortably seat 10 and is the perfect shape for just about any dining room and can be used with almost any kind of chairs.
One other point of note is that the table is not as narrow as many which we see, great for allowing space in the middle when people are sat both sides of it.
As with all items we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
