Model 31 is one of … Read more A fantastically elegant and solidly well-made chair designed by Kai Kristiansen for Schou Andersen, Denmark. Model 31 is one of Kai Kristiansen's most iconic and sought-after chairs, appreciated worldwide for its harmonious proportions, high comfort and timeless design.

This example has legs and side frames in teak with a warm tone and vibrant grain and the chair has been carefully upholstered in an exclusive wool fabric from Ludvig Svensson. The fabric has a yellow base with touches of brown tones that create a fantastic depth and vibrant changes in the textile. The warm and vibrant tones of the textile also highlight the fine nuances of the teak in a fantastic way and create a very harmonious whole.

The softly rounded back continues seamlessly down the sides of the frame and envelops the sitter in a very comfortable way. The construction provides both fine support and a cozy feeling.

The round, tapered legs together with the elegantly angled rear legs create the chair's characteristic silhouette. The back legs continue up towards the backrest in a softly tapered profile that almost seems to disappear into nothingness, a masterful example of Danish furniture design at its very best.

The chair is in very good condition with only minimal signs of wear. The seat and back have been recently reupholstered and have also received new support fabric and new padding with very nice support in both the seat and back. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
