These are two hand thrown hand-painted matched antique Chinese teacups. They are blue and white porcelain with a double happiness pattern. This is a typical traditional type Chinese symbol. Chinese expert appraised.
They are used for weddings and celebrations. They resemble provincial southern Chinese folk ceramics, which is common for wedding cups. The marks come in many variations and are often linked in spirit to the blessings of marriage for example and traditionally domestic items of porcelain are given as presents, with characters of this type prominent and large for all to see.
They are hand-painted with cobalt blue on a white porcelain background. The cobalt for the blue color became popular during the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
These two wedding cups are Late Qing Dynasty (approximately 1870–1910).
