The piece is in fair antique condition with damage around the hair/head, and a deep, consistent patina.

The Buddha sits in the full lotus position atop a low, stylized platform; his right hand is lowered touching the ground, representing the Bhumisparsha mudra (the "Earth Witness" gesture) while the articulating left hand faces palm up. The mudra commemorates the moment Buddha attained enlightenment and called upon the earth goddess to witness his triumph over temptation.

The Mandalay style is defined by a more naturalistic and softer facial expression, an oval face shape, a prominent band across the forehead separating the hairline, and a larger, rounded ushnisha (the topknot symbol of wisdom).
