The design has that wonderful Dutch interwar balance: architectural, expressive and slightly idiosyncratic, yet beautifully restrained.

The table is built around a circular top with a softly rounded edge, giving the piece a gentle silhouette. Beneath it, the construction becomes more graphic: four upright supports with rounded lower sections, joined by slender cross stretchers around a small circular central platform. This little round element at the base gives the table a charming rhythm.

The oak has a warm, lively grain and patina. The character comes from the stance of the legs, the rounded transitions, the circular forms and the woodgrain.

Amsterdam School furniture of the 1920s often treated even modest domestic pieces as miniature architecture. This table belongs very much to that world: practical as a side table, plant stand or small centre table, but with enough presence to stand on its own. It would work beautifully in an Art Deco, modernist or eclectic interior, especially when combined with Amsterdam School lighting or objects. See less
