The autobiography of David Herbert, the second son of the 15th Earl of Pembroke. Herbert led an itinerant life, spending much of his time travelling around the world with friends. He eventually left his ancestral home, Wilton House, to live permanently in Tangier. His memoirs are filled with a sparkling cast of characters, with appearances by Cecil Beaton, Stephen Tennant, Michael and Juliet Duff, Grace Vanderbilt, Syrie Maugham, Barbara Hutton, Daisy Fellowes, Noel Coward, Diana Cooper and Paul Bowles.
