My mother purchased this item in the Southeast the early 1990s during the time she collected Arts & Crafts furniture. From Georgia, she moved this bookcase to Tennessee, then to Kentucky, and then to New Mexico. Following her death, my father moved the bookcase back to Kentucky. A year after he died, I moved the bookcase to Maryland. It's a very nice piece of antique furniture that would fit in virtually any household. Like many Arts & Crafts pieces, its simple lines go with just about any other style of furniture. It would make a great display case or would perform well as an accent piece in a living room. In addition to the three bookcase units, a base and top are included. Each bookcase has a glass door that opens upward. Like other barrister's bookcases, each shelf nests inside the base or the shelf below. The top nests into the upper-most shelf. There are no attachments between the top, shelves, or the base--gravity holds everything together! Where many barrister's bookcases have single-pane glass doors, this bookcase has multi-pane glass panels, with metal cames separating the glass panes. Each glass door has a pyramid pull. At the bottom of each bookcase unit is a flat metal buckle strap encircling the wood frame. In addition to this bookcase, I'm also listing my mom's other Arts & Crafts furniture including: a J. K. Rishel Company dining room suite, an Oscar Onken & Company writing desk, and some other pieces. See less

The most significant damage is a cracked glass pane in one of the bookcase doors (see photo). Also, there is a water ring on the top of the bookcase, but overall the condition of this bookcase is very good for a 110+ year-old piece of furniture. less
