■ a mid-century design icon
les merciers gallery is proud to present a true masterpiece of office design: the legendary "executive chair," designed by american architect charles pollock in 1963 and manufactured by knoll international. Offered here in a stunning and warm burgundy leather upholstery, this chair perfectly balances exceptional seating comfort with a timeless architectural silhouette, highlighted by its signature extruded aluminum rim.
■ expertise & authenticity
this piece belongs to a highly sought-after vintage production run, with clear markings ensuring its authenticity:
the "knoll international" signature is directly stamped into the metal at the base.
a remnant of the manufacturer's original label is still present on the chrome rim.
■ configuration
functionality: swivel mechanism with a fixed seating height.
base: rests on a sturdy chrome 5-star base equipped with its original casters, which roll smoothly and are suitable for all types of flooring.
shell: features the iconic textured black polymer outer shell.
■ gallery condition report
this chair has been thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and the leather has been deeply nourished with a premium professional leather conditioner in our workshop. It is in very good vintage condition:
the leather: the burgundy upholstery is supple, taut, and has absolutely no tears. For complete transparency, we note a very fine, superficial scratch on the seat (clearly visible in the detailed photos). It is discreet and does not compromise the durability of the leather.
structure & chrome: the chrome banding and base are bright and in good condition. The black textured shell shows normal signs of use and patina, specifically some wear/scuffing on the upper back part, which is entirely consistent with its vintage age and past use.
