This iconic set of four "Trieste" folding chairs by Aldo Jacober for Bazzani combines the characteristic clarity of Italian design with an exceptionally minimalist and architectural aesthetic. Designed in the 1960s, the chairs are among Jacober's most recognizable works. with their sculptural silhouette, distinctive A-shaped side panels, and finely crafted slatted construction, the chairs have an almost graphic quality, blending functionality with timeless aesthetics.
The black finish underscores the design's clean geometry and lends the set a particularly elegant and modern feel. The delicate seat slats and precisely crafted wooden joints are striking features that highlight the design's high level of craftsmanship. At the same time, the ingenious construction allows for space-saving folding – a key characteristic of the "Trieste" model, which uniquely unites function and form.
The set is in good vintage condition with some signs of age. The photos show light patina, minor paint chips, and occasional signs of wear, particularly on edges, seat slats, and the lower legs. These authentic marks underscore the vintage character and history of the chairs without detracting from their overall appeal.
Aldo Jacober is one of the leading figures of Italian post-war design. His designs are characterized by constructive clarity, functionality, and a consistently minimalist design language. The "Trieste" folding chairs are now considered design classics and, due to their sculptural presence and ingenious construction, are internationally prized collector's items.
