Upholstery velvet is a heavy, dense fabric. In the case of our divan blanket, the pile is made of mercerized cotton that was dyed before weaving and woven with a very dense, strong cotton backing. The mercerization process makes the cotton more durable and gives it a distinct sheen while maintaining a soft feel. Our light brown/dark brown blanket, with its heavily expressionist decoration, appears to be in good condition. this Object: The dense, heavy, and therefore very durable divan blanket with its light brown/ dark brown, strongly expressionistic decor measures an impressive 3 meters long and 145 cm high. Such blankets served as throws or draperies on sofas or as tablecloths for large dining tables in the living room.
