About: This is a timeless piece that incorporates one of the most iconic and old designs ever woven - the iconic Herati pattern, also known as Water-Garden and Fish design. Two fish that were lovers are swimming around playing with one another under the moonlight - this is what the design represents. You will see the two fish (two leaves) and the moonlight (one flower in between them), and once you see it you can't unsee it. The lovely movement in the 3 stripes around the perimeter is a really nice break on the eyes as we dive into the world of the Herati design. That field is also broken apart with the powerful layered medallion which adds a nice depth to the piece. The patina and age-related wear is really pretty and takes this from a wonderfully rich piece to a rich and character piece. This rug is unimaginably fine in its quality of weave and tightness of knots. It really is so well woven, couldn't have been done by a novice weaver - this was done by a master with her fingers. Nice floppy handle with a thinner body and wonderful soft distressed/low wool pile. Definitely consider a pad if you'll be putting this in high-traffic because the pad will add some nice body to the rug. All in all, you will love this piece if you are looking for a true old-world antique piece with wonderful navy, coral, salmon, beige, blush, and deep indigo.
