A realist study by Philadelphia artist Anthony A. Ferrara, of a woman seated. Executed in charcoal. The work is signed and dated in the lower right corner. In good condition with wear consistent with age. Handling marks are present along the edges. Unframed.
Artist Biography:
Anthony A. Ferrara (1930–2012) was an American painter and draftsman known for his realist approach to urban and figurative subjects. Born and based in Philadelphia, Ferrara graduated from the Tyler School of Art in 1963 and continued his studies under Ben Eisenstat at the Fleisher Art Memorial. He developed a reputation for his plein air cityscapes that capture the texture and light of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. His work has been exhibited regionally and is represented in the collections of the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia as well as numerous private collections.
