Karl Sirovy was a trained lawyer and worked primarily for the timber industry in Zagreb. He had been painting and drawing since his youth. A self-taught artist, he is now considered part of the "Outsider Art" movement.

Because Karl Sirovy never exhibited his work publicly during his lifetime, both his art and the artist fell into obscurity after his death.

Works by the artist are extremely rare, and his vibrant, colorful watercolors are particularly scarce.


Exhibitions:

In 1988, Karl Sirovy's works were shown again for the first time at the "Naïve Art '87" exhibition in Zagreb.

1993: First solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb (Muzej suvremene umjetnosti (MSU)).

2014: Collection presentation, Charlotte Zander Museum, Bönnigheim.

2023: Municipal Gallery Kopřivnice.
