originally designed for the administration building of essener steinkohle, the “belt chair” was presented to a wide audience at the furniture fair in cologne in 1962. The elaborately designed and manufactured armchair was never produced in large numbers. This object: the seat of the kaiser wilhelm memorial church in berlin was the result of the design, but the se 122 a seat with belts set itself apart from its competitors thanks to a special design feature. The armrests that are common in conference chairs were placed on a side frame by prof. Eiermann; the material and color are clearly set off between the back rail and the side frame. The sculptural and rare furniture in the room, an icon of german post-war design, looks very special and unique. See less
