Books and Topographies N56, Javier Velarde Mauleón (2025). This work is composed of an assemblage of dyed paper on an enameled iron frame and glass. It is part of the artist's latest collection, in which he explores the relationship between domestic and natural space, symbolizing a damaged domesticity.
The home, traditionally associated with well-being, is disrupted by an uncontrollable circumstance, transforming it into an unsafe and aggressive place. Through assemblages and the use of the book as a domestic element, the artist creates “domestic natures,” representing the emotional storms we experience in the intimacy of our homes.
