She wears an elaborate jewelled turban with a large fan-shaped crest, layered pearl necklaces, ornate earrings and rich brocade garments. The translucent watercolours beautifully utilise the natural glow of the ivory.

This finely painted miniature belongs to the late Delhi School, from the final phase of Mughal artistic tradition in 19th-century India (circa 1840–1860). Presented in a gilt frame.
