An exceptional matched set of four sculptural “Bambi” dining armchairs designed by Rolf Rastad & Adolf Relling and produced in Norway by Gustav Bahus, circa 1950s.
Among the most distinctive chairs in Rastad & Relling’s celebrated Bambi series, this wide, low-profile model combines a dramatically sculpted teak frame with woven cane seat and back. The continuous curved arm and back structure gives the chair an unusually architectural presence while retaining the visual lightness characteristic of postwar Scandinavian design.
This set is particularly notable for comprising four matching examples of the desirable teak-and-cane form. Each chair retains its period “Made in Norway” marking.
The chairs have been professionally re-caned, allowing the sculptural teak frames to retain their vintage character while making the set ready for regular use. The frames show only minimal wear consistent with age.
