A small boat rests in shallow water before a timbered façade, its geometry quietly fractured into planes of muted ochre, slate blue and olive.

Edvin Ollers (1888–1959), though widely recognized for his work in glass and metal, regarded painting as the core of his artistic life. Here, traditional technique meets a restrained modernism — forms simplified, brushwork assured, color held in tonal harmony rather than contrast. His paintings are represented in the collections of Moderna Museet and Nationalmuseum in Sweden.

The surface reveals tactile passages of layered paint, with subtle impasto catching the light. Reflections in the water dissolve into rhythmic strokes, lending movement to an otherwise still moment.
