This is an expressive oil painting by Swedish artist Dag Björn Hellsing (1923-2006).
We see a a moody Scandinavian harbor scene rendered in an atmospheric palette of deep blues, greens, and muted greys. Boats, masts, and simple harbor buildings are reduced to strong, almost architectural forms, creating a calm but introspective composition.
Hellsing is known for his landscapes, forest scenes, lakes, and harbor motifs featuring boats and maritime life. In this work, his confident brushwork and balanced abstraction give the painting a distinctly modern character while remaining rooted in figurative landscape tradition.
