We see a quiet Scandinavian landscape rendered with expressive brushwork and a restrained, earthy colour palette. The composition conveys a strong sense of calm and stillness.

Grandin began his working life as a textile worker and seaman before turning fully to art. He was largely self-taught, with formative study trips to Paris in 1938–1939 and again in 1946. His artistic output includes landscapes, figurative scenes, and floral still lifes. Today, his work is represented in the collection of Borås Art Museum.

The painting is executed in oil on panel and signed “Grandin”. Both the artwork and the frame are preserved in very good vintage condition.
