An original Swedish oil painting on canvas by Uno Hubert Karlsson (1903-?), depicting an intimate artist’s studio arrangement with brushes, paint jars, palette and scattered tools rendered in expressive mid century brushwork.
Particularly striking is the large painter’s palette placed centrally in the composition, transforming the subject itself into a reflection on painting and the creative process. The work carries a distinctly Scandinavian modernist atmosphere while also recalling French atelier painting traditions of the mid 20th century.
The painting is in very good vintage condition with minor age-related wear to the frame.
