The two doors and canted side panels are centered with tall teal cartouches enclosing hand-painted scrollwork, lattice-and-dot motifs, ribbons, and small floral sprays, the painter working in the unrestrained provincial baroque manner that gives these regional pieces their distinctive presence. The body is finished in a striking faux-bois treatment, hand-grained in alternating bands of dark and light to simulate more precious imported timbers above the underlying softwood construction, a technique that doubled as both decoration and aspiration in rural Alpine households.

The architectural form is classic for the type: a heavy molded cornice with painted dentil banding, recessed paneled doors flanked by figured stiles, a single full-width drawer below with its own painted reserve, and turned ebonized bun feet supporting the case.
