Shapes & Decorations : - Structure The mirror consists of a rectangular frame, framing the main glass, side uprights, richly decorated with relief motifs, and at the top a sculpted and gilded pediment, adorned with garlands, a coat of arms (oval shield, framed with foliage and scrolls), and fire pots (stylized antique vases, from which sculpted flames escape)

Materials The wooden and stucco frame is gilded with gold leaf. The glass is mercury-coated, a technique used until the 19th century. State of Conservation : In good condition. The gold leaf has a slightly worn patina, attesting to the age of the mirror. See less
