The frame shows age-related wear, and the linen insert has visible marks and staining consistent with time.

Erik Byström studied under Carl Wilhelmson at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and later exhibited widely in Sweden and Denmark. His work is represented in several Swedish museum collections, including Moderna Museet and Göteborgs konstmuseum.
