A dramatic and atmospheric statement piece, this vintage Chinese cocktail table set brings the romance of Chinoiserie design into any interior. The rich deep brown lacquer ground is set beneath a protective glass top and features a beautifully detailed scene of imperial court beauties gathered in a walled garden pavilion. Figures are rendered in raised polychrome resin inlay, depicting elegantly robed ladies playing music and carrying offerings among weeping willows and pine trees, with a domed pavilion rendered in silver-painted lacquer detail. The apron continues the decorative program with additional figural and botanical inlay. Four fitted nesting stools tuck neatly beneath the table, each decorated in matching lacquer to complete the set.
A versatile piece that works equally well in maximalist, eclectic, Hollywood Regency, or traditional interiors.
The 30” diameter is an ideal scale for apartment living rooms or as a layered accent alongside a larger sofa.
