An exceptional and highly collectible original “Royal System” wall unit designed by Poul Cadovius in Denmark during the 1960s.
This iconic modular shelving system is widely regarded as one of the most important achievements of Scandinavian Mid Century Modern design, celebrated for its architectural lightness, refined craftsmanship and timeless floating aesthetic.
Crafted in beautifully figured teak with original wooden wall rails and black metal supports, the composition offers an elegant balance between functionality and sculptural presence.
The configuration includes:
two suspended sliding-door cabinets
a floating glass display cabinet
multiple adjustable shelves
integrated drawers
and a rare secretary/bar cabinet featuring an exceptional textured geometric façade.
The drop-front secretary module is particularly noteworthy, revealing a beautifully crafted fitted interior with dovetail joinery, document trays and refined cabinetmaking details throughout.
The woven-style textured front panel gives the system a sophisticated architectural character with subtle Japanese modernist influences, making this configuration considerably rarer and more desirable than standard Royal System compositions.
The teak displays a rich warm tone and exceptional grain throughout.
