Made from two different vintage Japanese silk kimono panels, this unique pillow cover features red-orange kumo shibori (spiderweb tie-dye) motifs set against delicate horizontal bands of geometric kasuri (ikat) motifs on an ivory ground. Kasuri is the Japanese form of ikat in which the weft and/or warp threads are tie and resist dyed before being woven. The complexity of the technique lies in having to plan where the pattern will go, not just before weaving, but as the thread itself is dyed.
The piece is backed in a variegated burnt orange silk kimono fabric, fully lined in cotton fabric and finished with an invisible zipper at the bottom. Handmade in the USA. Measures 11 x 15” and fits a standard 12 x 16” feather insert. Dry clean only. A matching pillow cover made from the same kimonos is also available through this listing.

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
