Fabulous brionvega rr126, a.k.a. The “musical pet”. This iconic radio phonograph and record player was designed by achille and pier giacomo castiglioni and produced during the early 1960s. Fully original and in museum-quality condition, serviced and fully functional. This example comes in a stunning and exceptionally rare walnut wood finish with beautiful natural grain, giving the piece an elegant, warm, and highly decorative presence. This iconic object has a smart voltage regulator on the back which allows it to work worldwide and easily switch between 120v, 160v and 220v. Born as a stereophonic device that quickly became an icon of pop design in the 1960s, the rr126 is exhibited at the triennale di milano, at the moma in new york, and was also shown at the victoria & albert museum in london. The machine and the dual 1214 record player have been serviced, tested, and are in perfect working order. The pair of speakers, original irel speakers, can be placed on top or hooked onto the sides of the stereo. On the top sits the dual turntable with its original smoked plastic dust cover, with not a single chip or crack. On the front is the radio phonograph. The base is made of metal and black-enameled t-shaped steel, with four sturdy black metal wheels as feet. An icon of mid-century italian design and a must-have for all vintage design enthusiasts. This high-end radio phonograph is the perfect statement piece for a mid-century modern or contemporary living room or studio. Dimensions (cm): • with speakers on the sides: 122 × 38 × 74h (including the record player cover) • with speakers placed on top: 62 × 38 × 92h this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
