This is a vintage Chinese soapstone carving of Guanyin - the Goddess of compassion, is made from natural soapstone and stands approximately 15 inches high. She is seen in flowing robes and appears to have an area carved to allow her to carry a sacred vase or willow branch.
There is a small variation in the base stone used, has minor wear consistent with age, which includes a minute chip on the bottom of the nose and what appears to be a small piece missing on the lower left side of her dress.
