George II style giltwood X-frame stool by Charles Pollock, produced as a high-quality reproduction of the celebrated circa 1735–40 English model attributed to William Kent (originally executed by Henry Williams). A strong decorative accent with classic British country house presence, ideal at the foot of a bed, in a dressing room, or as extra seating in a library.
The carved X-form base features scrolling terminals, a central shell-and-scroll cartouche, and paw-form feet, finished in a warm gilt tone. The upholstered seat is covered in a burgundy-and-black geometric diamond textile that reads tailored and traditional against the gilded frame.
• Material: Carved wood with gilt finish; upholstered seat
• Style: Traditional
• Period: Late 20th century (reproduction of an 18th-century George II design)
• Country of Origin: Unknown
• Attribution: By Charles Pollock; design historically attributed to William Kent
Very good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age and display, and the stool presents very well overall. There is some light loss to the gilt/finish on the legs (as pictured) and light wear to the seat upholstery consistent with normal use. Structurally sound and stable.
