This is an original acrylic paint and collage painting by Massachusetts artist Danny O (Daniel O'Connor). It is unsigned but gifted to me by the artist himself. I am among the largest collectors of his paintings and have been collecting his works since 1995. This is from a body of work he made between 2016 and 2022 that focused on boats and sailing.
This painting measures 12" h x 24" w x 1" d.
Danny O's works have been collected worldwide since his early beginnings in Boston. While in the Navy as a young man, Danny was the official photographer & artist for the ship on which he was stationed and became known for the collection of popular tee shirts he made in Virginia Beach, VA in the early 1980s based on his first surfer series. His career has come full circle in the last couple of years as he has officially been awarded the official Artist in Residence for the popular Surf Expo in Miami Beach, Florida. Over the last several years, he has traveled extensively participating in numerous gallery exhibits and art fairs throughout New England and up and down the East Coast. Seacoast, boating, beach, and surfing scenes are what he has become most known for recently, but he has painted everything from realist portraits to abstract collages over his decades long career.
His beach figures were the focus of a line of clothing by the Tommy Bahama clothing brand in 2025 as part of the Artists Series and one of his collages of a bouquet of flowers was selected by Oprah Winfrey herself for her 20th Anniversary Edition of O Magazine which ran in the May 2020 issue.
Danny O's art is only becoming more and more sought after. His large installation sculptures and paintings have been exhibited at Mass MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art); the Decordova Museum; and in numerous art galleries including several in NYC, South Florida, Boston, and Provincetown, MA.
