This elegant regional map, titled *Arragonia Regnum*, originates from Blaeu’s celebrated atlas *Toonneel des Aerdrycx*, one of the masterpieces of Dutch Golden Age cartography. The map depicts the region of Aragon in remarkable detail, extending from the Pyrenees in the north toward the Mediterranean coast. Rivers, mountain ranges, dioceses, towns, and regional boundaries are carefully engraved, offering a rich and highly readable portrait of this historically important kingdom. The rugged Pyrenean terrain is rendered with dramatic pictorial relief, adding strong visual depth to the composition. A standout feature is the elaborate heraldic cartouche in the lower left, richly decorated with the arms of Aragon and intricate Baroque ornamentation. Additional coats of arms and decorative calligraphy appear throughout the composition, while a finely engraved dedication cartouche near the bottom center adds further refinement. The original hand-coloring remains fresh and attractive, delicately emphasizing borders, rivers, and topographic features without overwhelming the engraving itself. Maps of Spain by Blaeu are highly regarded for their combination of cartographic precision and decorative sophistication. Regional maps such as this are especially desirable due to their intimate detail and elegant compositions, making them equally appealing to collectors and interior designers. An exceptional collector’s piece and a refined decorative work, ideal for a study, library, or classic European interior. Particularly effective when paired with other Blaeu maps of Spain and Iberia in a museum-style presentation. Condition: Good condition for its age. Original central fold as issued. Light overall toning consistent with age. Minor wear and faint staining, mainly in the margins. Edges slightly irregular. Colors remain fresh and attractive. Please study image carefully. Framing: This piece presents beautifully in a dark walnut or ebonized wood frame with a wide warm ivory mat. A museum-style presentation enhances the heraldic cartouches and mountainous detail. Particularly effective in a darker study or classic interior setting.
