A compact Japanese drawer cabinet with four drawers, a deep reddish-brown colour and decorative floral motifs in relief.
Dimensions: height 45.5 cm, width 36.5 cm, depth 30.5 cm.
This antique Japanese drawer cabinet dates from the Taishō period and has a warm, understated presence. The drawer fronts are decorated with floral motifs reminiscent of kiku, the Japanese chrysanthemum, subtly raised in relief across the surface.
The cabinet has four drawers of different heights, each fitted with a simple metal pull. The interiors of the drawers are finished in black lacquer, giving the piece a refined and luxurious feel. The wooden body is covered with a lacquered, textile-like surface; some light wear is visible around the corners, consistent with age and use. A maker’s stamp can be seen on one side.
A characterful and practical piece for contemporary use: ideal for storing writing materials, jewellery, small objects, textiles or creative supplies. It also works beautifully as a compact storage piece on a desk, sideboard or low cabinet in a refined interior.
The cabinet is sturdy, functional and gracefully aged, with a strong balance between decoration, patina and everyday usability.
