Antique faux bamboo mirror with original mirror plate and backing, entirely in Chinoiserie style; this style was very popular during the Art Nouveau period. Originating from France, this piece dates from the first half of the 20th century.
This beautiful wooden frame has been carved and worked to resemble real bamboo, hence the name faux bamboo. This piece bears a very beautiful weathered patina of age. The mirror glass is decoratively speckled and also weathered, which is common in very old mirrors.
In good antique condition, with light signs of age and use consistent with the age and material. The varnish layer displays a beautiful crackle effect, with a few spots where the lacquer layer shows wear.
