The frame is constructed in segmented pine, assembled in a stadium/oval form with the individual sections meeting at precise mitre joints. The natural grain and warm amber tone of the pine are displayed to full effect across the broad, flat profile. At each joint between segments, a thick plait of natural rope — sisal or manila — has been inserted into an oval recess cut directly into the wood, emerging proud of the surface as a tactile, sculptural knot.
