The monastery, a Neo-Gothic landmark redesigned in the 19th century, is one of Nice's most beloved and historically significant sites — its gardens are the final resting place of both Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy.

Together the two paintings form a cohesive study of the monastery's architecture and surrounding gardens, with cypress trees, terracotta rooftops, and the distinctive Gothic Revival facade rendered in warm, sun-drenched tones characteristic of the Côte d'Azur. Both pieces are signed lower corner.

Acquired from an antique dealer in Nice, French Riviera. Condition as shown in photos. Sold as a pair.
