This elegant antique Persian Sarouk rug, measuring approximately 3'3" x 5'3" and dating to around 1930, is a beautiful example of the refined artistic weaving traditions that made Sarouk carpets among the most admired Persian rugs exported to the West during the early 20th century.
The rug displays a richly ornamented allover floral composition centered around a delicately drawn medallion set upon a luminous raspberry-red field. The design is filled with graceful scrolling vines, palmettes, blossoms, and finely detailed floral motifs rendered with exceptional harmony and sophistication. The overall drawing possesses the fluidity and elegance associated with fine Sarouk workshop weaving while maintaining the warmth and decorative character collectors and designers greatly appreciate.
The color palette is especially attractive, featuring vibrant shades of deep rose, raspberry red, soft ivory, pale celadon, sky blue, navy, and touches of blush pink and coral. The beautifully softened vegetable and early synthetic dyes have mellowed gracefully over time, giving the rug a luminous and highly decorative appearance.
The ivory floral border frames the composition beautifully and provides excellent contrast against the richly saturated field, enhancing the rug’s brightness and visual balance. The finely woven back and supple handle indicate quality craftsmanship and careful preservation.
This rug appears to be in excellent condition with full pile throughout, which is increasingly uncommon for authentic antique Sarouks from this period. Its combination of fine drawing, vibrant coloration, decorative proportions, and outstanding preservation makes it highly desirable for both collectors and sophisticated interiors.
Comparable antique Persian Sarouk rugs of this quality, age, and condition would reasonably carry a retail value in today’s market in the range of approximately $4,000 – $6,500 retail, with particularly strong appeal due to its excellent full-pile condition, refined floral drawing, and vivid decorative coloration.
