A large-scale mid-century wooden shop sign dating from the 1950s, featuring gilt-lettered glass panels reading “Rolex”, “Sales” and “Repairs”.
Constructed from a painted wooden ground with individually inset glass panels secured by metal pins, the sign was likely commissioned for use by an authorised watch retailer or repairer. While not produced by Rolex itself, it reflects the visual language and material quality associated with post-war luxury horological retail, where craftsmanship and bold signage were central to customer presentation.
The scale is particularly notable, measuring just under one metre square, and it would originally have been intended for external or high-visibility interior display.
Today, it presents as a striking example of historic commercial design, ideally suited to a horological interior, retail setting, studio, or private collector space.
Large-scale period retailer signage of this type is increasingly scarce on the open market, particularly examples retaining original glass panels and gilt lettering. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
