The lamp is made of brushed aluminum and has a hemispherical outer shell, beneath which concentric, white-lacquered metal louvers are mounted. This multi-layered construction creates a soft, downward-directed light and conceals the light source from the sides—a central principle of Louis Poulsen's lighting design philosophy.
