Figurative table lamp in clear, mouth-blown crystal glass, designed by olle alberius for the renowned swedish manufacturer orrefors. description:
rather than a conventional lamp base, this piece takes the form of a small crystal sculpture: a bird, rendered in clear, mouth-blown glass, perched on a glass stone. The cord runs discreetly up through the black wood base and along the metal armature to the socket above the figure, so the sculptural glass form remains the visual focus.
olle alberius (1926–1993) ranks among the most significant swedish designers of the 20th century. After serving as chief designer at rörstrand, he moved to orrefors in 1971, where he created glass objects and lighting of exceptional clarity and technical precision until into the 1990s. His work is held in the collection of the swedish national museum.
orrefors, founded in 1898, is one of scandinavia's most influential glassworks and has stood for over a century for the highest standards in cutting, form, and material.
