An English Arts and Crafts chestnut dresser attributed to Sir Ambrose Heal for Heal & Son of London, circa 1905, … Read more An English Arts and Crafts chestnut dresser attributed to Sir Ambrose Heal for Heal & Son of London, circa 1905, of the type originally produced for the Cheap Cottage Exhibition at Letchworth Garden City. Solid chestnut and oak construction with a lattice back, plate display shelf, and brass cup hooks and hinges throughout. No maker’s mark is present, but the design corresponds to a documented Heal model: the same form is illustrated in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Arts and Crafts holdings and recorded in Oliver S. Heal’s Sir Ambrose Heal and the Heal Cabinet Factory 1897-1939. Imported from England, consistent with its origin and Heal attribution. A rare find in the U.S.
