Make an unforgettable architectural statement with this monumental, bronze ceremonial throne. Capturing the royal arts of the Cameroon Grassfields (specifically the Bamum and Tikar cultures), this massive piece of sculptural furniture blurs the line between functional seating and fine art.
The throne is incredibly complex, cast using the traditional, labor-intensive lost-wax (cire perdue) method. The structure is supported by tiers of caryatid attendant figures—some playing traditional horns and flutes—who symbolically uphold the power of the seat. The top tier is crowned by a prominent male figure holding a ritual vessel, while the seat itself is beautifully textured with concentric rings of raised cowrie shell motifs, a traditional African symbol of wealth and status.
This throne maintains a varied greenish-brown foundry patina, giving this heavy, solid metal chair texture, gravity, and a sophisticated global aesthetic to any space. It is the perfect anchor piece for a maximalist, eclectic, or modern interior.
Seller's Note: This listing is for the Male Throne. The matching Female ("Queen") counterpart to this throne is also available.

Please note: As shown in the photographs, the reverse side of several figures features natural core-gaps and casting variations. These are not damages; they are the authentic, highly desirable hallmarks of the traditional handmade lost-wax casting process, proving this is a unique, hand-poured work of art rather than a mass-produced factory mold. less
