Drawing on … Read more Created in 2025, ‘Ten £ Banger’ is an original oil on canvas by Glasgow-based artist Steven E Robertson. Drawing on memories of early 2000s club culture, the painting reflects on fleeting encounters and coded exchanges within the charged atmosphere of the dance floor.

Robertson’s distinctive visual language combines figurative elements with surreal and psychedelic gestures, allowing humour and emotional tension to coexist within the same image. Saturated yellows, handwritten fragments, and loosely rendered forms move between clarity and dissolution, echoing the unstable logic of memory and nightlife.

Rooted in lived experience and queer identity, the work forms part of Robertson’s ongoing exploration of intimacy, performance, pleasure, and vulnerability.
