The piece is divided into two distinct functional sections. The top compartment which is a lift-top lid featuring a central metal handle which sits on top. This upper chamber historically held the large block of ice used for cooling.

The bottom compartment has a single, large paneled door which opens to the main refrigeration area where perishable food was stored.

This piece features ornate, heavy-duty latching mechanisms and hinges made of cast brass or bronze.

A small dark rectangular manufacturer's emblem states it was made by The Burns and is centered directly above the main door.

This piece is still in its original, historic condition. The inserts are often removed, and if preferred it reportedly can be removed easily from this one. See less
