Traveling Man Treasures is selling this stunning vintage Limited Edition (AP 14/25) solid bronze sculpture titled "Le Cheval De Troie" (Trojan Horse) after the illustrious Salvador Dali. The base is marked "AP 14/25" along with two stamped signatures. Meticulously crafted with even the most minute details expressed (see bronze spears, emotive warriors) this piece is not only exceedingly rare, it is a sight to behold. The sculpture is in good overall condition with appropriate patination, but will need a proper cleaning and waxing to fully round out its beauty.
The piece uses surrealist imagery to visualize the legendary Greek ruse from the Trojan War. Greek soldiers descend from a hinged trapdoor on the horse's flank via ladders. Below, additional soldiers prepare for an onslaught near a tattered cart. In classic Dali style, the bronze features an expressive, textured surface with elongated proportions. The aesthetic leans toward a Surrealist or Brutalist style. This exemplary bronze sculpture truly showcases the French and European sculptural movements of the mid-to-late 20th century.
