Iconic mid-century style Cesca caned dining chairs in black - x4 for sale.
Bought these only a few months ago and now moving to a new place without need for four dining chairs, so sadly these are up for sale and in great condition from very minimal use (one has never been sat in). All seats photographed so you can see the condition. The cane has some natural variation in color, which you can see in photos from retailer sites for comparison. No noticeable marks.
Marcel Breuer’s Cesca Chair is a poetic blend of contrasts. With a tubular steel frame that pairs with upholstery or natural materials, such as wood and cane, this cantilevered chair has been a beloved favorite in homes and restaurants since 1928.
- Tubular steel frame inspired by that of a bicycle.
- A comfortable cantilever design.
- Polished chrome finish.
Three years after designing his iconic Wassily Chair, which is believed to be the first bent tubular steel chair design, Marcel Breuer created the Cesca Chair (1928). Named after his daughter Francesca, the simple design combines the Industrial Age aesthetic of tubular steel with upholstery or caning and wood.
An original 1928 Cesca Chair is included in MoMA’s permanent collection.

The chairs come with a little splintering in the cane given the nature of the construction and there is some natural color variation in the cane. That said, they've rarely been used so no scratches and the cane seats are still taut, only one has very minor sinking, and that's just me being fussy. less
