A grand, sculptural Tang Dynasty-style ceramic horse standing an impressive 23 inches tall. This large-scale piece is a late 20th century reproduction of an antique Chinese Tang Dynasty standing horse statue. The Standing Horse were tomb figures created in China during the Tang Dynasty and designed to be buried with the dead.
Finished in a classic Sancai style lead-glazed palette, featuring rich amber-brown, cream, and vibrant splash-green drips that pool elegantly along the saddle, mane, and base. The horse is intricately detailed with a decorative green-glazed saddle, stirrups, and raised medallion-style dynamic trappings along the breastplate and rump.
