An exceptional example of mid-century American biomorphic design, this vintage Nambé No. 555 tray beautifully captures the fluid, organic minimalism of the post-war era. Designed and copyrighted in 1956, this early production piece was sand-cast in New Mexico from Nambé’s legendary, proprietary metal alloy.
introduced in 1956, Thomas's square-structured yet softly curved design was a massive milestone for the company. It actually became the very first Nambé piece to be recognized by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, where it remains a part of their permanent design collection.
Featuring softly upturned edges and elegant, radiused corners, its sleek silhouette functions effortlessly as a sophisticated vanity tray, a modernist desk organizer, or a striking cocktail catchall. The proprietary eight-metal alloy delivers a heavy, substantial hand feel and a muted, silver-pewter luster that uniquely avoids tarnishing.
