These obelisks are formed by a meticulous arrangement of alternating bands of polished architectural hard-stones. They function as a "geological catalog" showcasing prized regional stones. The horizontal layers appear to incorporate classic European decorative stones, including rich orange-red Rosso Antico (or Rouge Griotte), dark green Verde Antico (serpentine marble), cream-colored Breccia, and white Carrara marble. : Both shafts terminate at the apex with a sharply faceted pyramidion and rest on a tiered, architectural black Nero Belgio (or Marmo Negro) marble base that creates a bold structural contrast.
